HARIPUR: A man committed suicide after killing his wife in a remote village of Ghazi tehsil here on Sunday.

The police said Mohammad Shiraz, a 48-year-old construction worker, fired gunshots at Neelo Bibi, a 36-year-old mother of three children, after altercation over a family dispute in Umar Khana village.

The man also shot himself afterwards.

The neighbours shifted the injured couple to the tehsil headquarters hospital, where the doctors declared the woman dead and referred the man to the Haripur Trauma Centre due to serious condition. He, however, died due to excessive bleeding.

Meanwhile, station house officer of the Beer police station Abdul Raziq Khan died of cardiac arrest in his office here on Sunday.

The police said the 52-year-old returned from the routine patrolling on Saturday night and went to his office to take rest but was found dead by his subordinates in the morning.

The hospital sources said the death was caused by cardiac arrest.
