Often times, when visiting someone, we find interesting welcome notes on their main door, in the living area and bedrooms. They are funny signs, notes or some inspirational quotes, which show the family bond or the nature of the person the room belongs to.

The craft today is the combination of both, funny yet affectionate words that tell the visitors about the nature of family and their sense of humour.

The words I have used are: “Welcome to our happy crazy messy caring loud fun loving home” without comas. Words can be altered and you can search from the internet or use whatever you think best suits you or your family.

Things you need:

  1. Cardboard (use empty cartons left from grocery items)

  2. Coloured papers

  3. Glue stick

  4. Scissors

  5. Coloured markers

  6. Ruler

  7. Black large marker

  8. Stickers, beads of various sizes and shapes (optional)

Directions:

  1. Cut cardboard into 10 pieces (2-inches wide and 8-inches long), see pictures 2, 3 and 4.

  2. Glue coloured papers on each cardboard piece, so you get 10 multicoloured cardboard pieces, pictures 5, 6 and 7.

  3. Arrange the pieces as shown in picture 8.

  4. Measure the length of all the pieces aligned vertically, and cut a cardboard strip according to the length of these pieces, picture 9.

  5. With the help of hot glue, paste all the pieces as you arranged them earlier, on the cardboard strip, picture 10.

  6. Write the words with the black marker, you can change the font style or colour on each piece, picture 11.

  7. Use your imagination in decorating the welcome note.

  8. Hang it on the main door of your house or if you have customised the words, you can hang it on your bedroom door.
