Minister voices concern over display of arms in Balochistan

QUETTA: Balochistan Home Minister Ziaullah Langove has expressed concern over display of arms, presence of private security guards and use of vehicles with tinted glasses in the province.

While reviewing the law and order situation during a meeting on Monday, the minister directed the authorities concerned to stop display of arms and use of vehicles with tinted glasses.

He also called for evolving a strategy about private security guards.

Chief Secretary Matahar Niaz Rana, Additional Chief Secre­tary Home Arshad Majeed, Inspector General of Police Tahir Rai, Secretary Primary Health Aziz Jamali and Commi­ssioner Quetta Division Asfan­dyar Kakar, regional police officers, senior officials of the home department and other institutions attended the meeting.

Langove chairs meeting on law, order

The additional chief secretary home briefed the meeting on the overall statistics of law and order situation and future course of action.

The meeting decided in principle to ban display of arms and take up the issue in the next cabinet meeting for its approval.

The minister said a full-scale operation would be launched against the display of arms.

The meeting decided to hold regular meetings to review the law and order situation in the province.

The home minister directed the officials concerned to discuss the law and order situation in their respective regions.

He said the government wou­ld provide all resources to law enforcement agencies to improve the law and order situation.

“Law enforcement agencies are doing a good job,” he said.

Mr Langove directed the authorities to keep a close watch on mischievous elements, take action against aerial firing, sale and purchase of drugs and other anti-social activities.

The meeting was informed that the narcotics eradication teams were being formed at the district level for effective prevention of drugs.

The district police officer will take action against drug dealers.

The minister said the police personnel in civilian clothes on duty with elected public representatives should be banned, all permanent police check-posts across the province should be repaired and cameras should be installed there.

The meeting was informed that strict measures would be taken to implement standard operating procedures against the coronavirus pandemic during Eidul Azha.
