QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti on Sunday underscored the cultural, intellectual and historical significance of mother languages, describing them as the foundation of collective consciousness and historical continuity.

In a statement issued on the occasion of International Mother Language Day, Mr Bugti said Balochistan’s linguistic diversity reflected the province’s intellectual breadth and cultural depth. He noted that the region’s array of languages represented a valuable heritage that must be preserved and promoted.

“Mother languages embody the identity, traditions and worldview of communities,” he said, adding that safeguarding this linguistic capital was a fundamental responsibility of the government.

The CM said the government was implementing a comprehensive strategy to promote teaching, research and documentation of regional languages, with the aim of preserving them for future generations.
