SWABI: Rivals killed two brothers and injured their nephew over an old enmity in Pabbini village of Gadoon Amazai here on Tuesday night.

The police said Mohammad Zahoor and Nazmin Khan along with their nephew, Arif Khan, were attacked near their house when they arrived their on a motorcycle.

They said the motorcycle caught fire after the firing and the bodies of the two brothers were burnt badly.

The locals shifted the bodies to the district headquarters hospital for autopsy.

Registering an FIR, injured Arif told the Swabi police that the cause of the incident was an old enmity. He named Shamim Khan, Qayyum Khan, Amin Khan and Niamat Khan for the double murder.

SCHOLARSHIPS: The Society for Promotion of Engineering Sciences and Technology in Pakistan (Soprest), the parent body of the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, has promised increasing the scholarships for the talented and needy students.

The society’s executive director Shakeel Durrani announced this while presiding over a meeting at the GIK Institute on Wednesday.

The meeting was held to review the preparations for conducting the entry test for the fall 2021 semester next month, and overall academic activities of the Institute after its recent reopening.

The participants stressed speedy vaccination of all the employees against Covid-19. The Soprest executive director also held meetings with the deans, directors and faculty members.

Sardar Aminullah Khan, the acting rector, gave a presentation about various aspects of the institute, ongoing admission process and advertisement and publicity campaign launched in connection with the upcoming admissions.

The participants requested the different institutes, donors and the provincial governments to increase the scholarships to help needy and talented students get admissions in the institute.
