QUETTA: There is no threat to the Balochistan government as Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani enjoys the support of all coalition partners, a spokesman said on Sunday.

“Mr Alyani will remain chief minister for the remaining two years and work for the development of this province, which has been ignored by all the previous governments,” Liaquat Shahwani claimed at a press conference.

He said all allies stood by the government and the Balochistan Awami Party was extending full support to the chief minister. “The portfolio of local government was withdrawn from Sardar Saleh Bhootani as he was not performing according to the government’s expectations,” Mr Shahwani alleged.

He said the provincial government was making efforts to improve the performance of different departments.

It was decided in a meeting to assess the working of the local government system to upgrade four town committees of Quetta’s rural areas to municipal corporation, Liaquat Shahwani said.

He said the number of coronavirus infections had come down thanks to strict implementation of SOPs.

“The process of vaccination is picking up in the province as the government has set up more centres over the past few days,” the spokesman said.
