EVERY now and then, this space is crammed with the letters grumbling against the ineptitude of the Sindh Public Service Commission (SPSC). I want to correct some misconceptions. I belong to a lower-middle segment of society. To make ends meet, I joined Sindh Police as a head constable back in 2013. Besides performing a shift-wise job, I continued my study and finally earned two professional degrees; one in engineering and the other in law.

Later, I applied for the post of assistant sub-inspector of police and then appeared in the combined competitive examinations (CCE) 2019 through the SPSC. On both occasions, I was successful purely on merit. Recently, I have been appointed a deputy superintendent of police in the same department where I had started my journey at a much junior level.

Contrary to the popular notion I never felt any racial discrimination and was never stigmatised on any account despite not being a native Sindhi. In my personal experience, I have found SPSC to be impartial and merit-oriented.

To my pleasant surprise, all the selected fellows of CCE 2019 are also well-versed and dedicated individuals; some of them have also qualified CSS 2020 examinations. It is nothing but sheer inefficiency of candidates who fail to make who are trying to come across as victims.

I advise the propagandists to utilise energies on studies rather than discouraging the aspiring candidates. I am sharing my roll number (65588) of CCE 2019 examinations for those who still have doubts.
