MIRPURKHAS: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), Hyderabad, has extended its circle of investigation to more villages following recovery of a huge quantity of narcotics from the bungalow of an inspector of the Mirpurkhas police in Gulberg town last week.

An ANF team conducted a second raid on the bungalow of (suspended) inspector Kanwar Singh on Thursday night and carried out a thorough search on a tip-off about more stocks having been concealed there. A number of armed ANF personnel riding many vehicles took part in the raid.

In the previous raid, illicit arms, besides stocks of imported wine of different brands and other narcotics, were seized and a few vehicles were impounded. A case was registered against Kanwar Singh and several of his associates.

The team also conducted a raid on a place in Majnoon Tungri village near Jhuddo town and seized charas and opium in big quantities. Two suspects, Taj Tungri and Ali Nawaz Tungri were picked up and an illicit rifle was seized from them. A man, Bashir, said to be their guest, was also taken into custody for interrogation.

The team conducted a third raid in Jurio Khoso village near Jhuddo bypass and impounded a car believed to have been used in the illegal trade.

Kanwar Singh was suspended by Mirpurkhas DIG Zulfikar Mahar following the first raid on his bungalow last week and had ordered an inquiry against him. The probe has been assigned to a committee headed by Tharparkar SSP Hassan Sardar Niazi.
