ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has stopped the management of a mall in Islamabad from further construction and warned that if they did not pay dues to the civic agency, the under-construction building will be formally sealed.
The multi-storey Mall of Islamabad is being constructed in F-7/G-7 portion of Blue Area.
According to the CDA, the plot holder has made construction more than the allowed covered area.
However, sources said that a few months ago, the CDA had calculated Rs200 million extra charges and asked the lessee to deposit it for regularisation of the construction.
“Today, we stopped the construction work and asked the lessee to pay fine/extra charges otherwise CDA will seal the building,” said an inspector of CDA.
The officials of CDA’s building control and enforcement wing visited the under-construction building and directed the staff present there to stop further construction immediately.
Earlier, on Wednesday, the CDA had also issued a letter to the allottee of the plot number 56-N of Blue Area to stop the construction work immediately.
The CDA officials said if the lessee did not deposit the regularisation charges and fine, the CDA would formally seal the building on Monday.
