SWABI: Robbers took away valuables from a house in Shahmansoor Township, and cattle from a pen in Sekandari village in separate incidents here, the police said on Friday.

Aizaz Khan got registered an FIR with the Zaida police, stating no one was at home when the robbers forced their way into his residence. He said they collected valuables, including kitchen utensils, and decamped. He said when he reached home in the morning he found items scattered in rooms.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Qasim lodged an FIR in Kalu Khan police station, stating the thieves broke the locks of his cattle room and drove away all the animals.

TRADERS SEEK ASSISTANCE: The local businessmen have said the outbreak of coronavirus has inflicted huge financial losses on them.

Addressing a meeting the other day, the leaders of Anjuman-i-Dokandaran Swabi (ADS) said there was a lockdown during the first wave of the pandemic while during its second wave people wanted to stay away from bazaars.

ADS president Laiq Khan said coronavirus had also affected the purchasing power of the people.

He added the traders must be patient and should continue to work hard for their financial stabilisation.

Mohammad Ali, former president of ADS, demanded financial assistance for traders. He said they would be in hot water without government help. He added every sphere of life was affected by coronavirus.

ACCIDENT: Two women were injured when a rickshaw and a motorbike collided near Kunda Mor on Swabi-Jehangira Road the other day.

They were taken to Bacha Khan Medical Complex Shahmansoor, where their condition was stated to be critical condition.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leaders and workers staged a demonstration to protest the atrocities of Indian forces against the people in occupied Kashmir.

The PTI workers gathered near Wapda office and marched from there to Karnal Sher Khan Chowk where they were addressed by their leaders. They were led by MPA Aqibullah Khan.
