KHYBER: A technical fault at the Landi Kotal grid station caused suspension of power supply to the entire tehsil for nearly 18 hours on Tuesday.

Grid station staff said they had to shut down at least 18 feeders after a powerful transformer developed a fault at midnight.

They said technical staff was later called from Peshawar to rectify the fault and restore power supply.

The power suspension also disrupted water supply, affected different portions of Landi Kotal hospital and several surgeries were deferred.

The power supply was later restored in the evening.

Meanwhile, the main road leading to Loe Shalman area remained closed for second consecutive day due to landslides caused by snowfall on Sunday.

Residents said they had to take the long alternate road from Landi Kotal via the Kam Shalman area to reach their destinations. They demanded of the authorities to clear the road of landslides.
