DERA MURAD JAMALI: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani has vowed to upgrade all local bodies institutions to enable them to resolve people’s problems at their doorsteps.

Speaking at a gathering at Circuit House here on Monday after inaugurating various completed and new development projects, he said all town committees would be upgraded to the level of municipal committees and all municipal committees would be declared municipal corporations soon in order to strengthen the local bodies system.

Mr Alyani said the government had decided to upgrade all inter colleges as degree colleges and provide maximum facilities to all colleges and schools as education was its top priority.

“We want to give opportunities to the common people’s children to obtain higher education at the local level,” he added.

The chief minister said the coalition government was giving all attention to strengthen state institutions to resolve problems being faced by the people.

He said the previous governments had made tall promises but did not fulfil them. He said his government believed in equal development of districts and was utilising all available resources for uplift projects.

He said Nasirabad division was the only agriculture area and its development depended on increasing agriculture production and for the first time in the history of Balochistan that the portfolio of irrigation department was given to Nawabzada Tariq Hussain Magsi who belonged to this division. “I hope Tariq Magsi will do his level best for increasing agriculture production,” he said.

Mr Alyani said his government would take all steps for completing the widening of Pat Feeder Canal and Kachhi Canal projects.
