As one grows younger by the day and the year, one grows fonder of Dawn’s Young World every Saturday. The edition of December 12, 2020, is typically relevant.

Compliments on the way in which its content and tone balance the mainly pessimistic, cynical content in the writings of many of your distinguished columnists, and in the daily news reports of unremitting despair.

There is far more than naive innocence in the contributions published from human beings slightly — by only a few decades — younger than this letter-writer. There is a basic decency, energy, faith, even wisdom and fulsomeness from which adults should learn and emulate. Let the child within each of us lead us.

One request: in the “Quotes” section, there is a tendency to mostly use thoughts from Western personalities. Without detracting from their value, surely there are abundant pearls of insights from sages — and unsages — past and present from other parts of this diverse, beautiful world.

Plagiarised content

This is with reference to the short story “The crazy super villain” by Yusuf Zaheer Qasmi (YW, December 5). The story is a clear copy of Dr Maniac vs Robby Schwartz by R.L Stine, a part of the Goosebump series. The main character’s name is Robby Schwartz and the story has a lot of similarities to the book it was copied from.

This is highly disappointing to see how young kids take others’ stuff and send it with their by line. Although the magazine clearly states that only original content is acceptable, sadly, many kids think it’s fine to copy the content from any source and send it with their name.

I have been an avid reader of the Young World magazine from a tender age and have never been dissatisfied with the content it provides to us young readers; but unfortunately, some writers don’t seem to be sincere with whatever they are sending.

I would like to request all the readers to stop plagiarism and, if you want to see your name in print, then be sincere and send only original content that you have written yourself.

Parents are most beautiful and valuable gifts from God in our lives. They play a vital role in the physical, mental, social, educational and financial development of their kid’s life. Parents teach and guide us on the right path and differentiate between good and bad in life.

Therefore, we should respect and care for our parents. I love my parents because they are an important and a main part of my life.
