TAXILA: Two men were shot and injured near Kutchery chowk by their alleged rivals in Attock on Friday.

Both the injured persons - residents of Hazro - were on their way towards the local court to appear for a hearing in reference to a case registered against them in Hazro Police station when two persons, riding on a motorcycle shot them and escaped.

According to police, one of the injured is a suspect in the murder of Shahnawaz; he had recently been released on bail from Attock jail. However, absence of adequate security in an area where district courts and government offices are located has raised eye brows among residents of the area. The injured were shifted to Rawalpindi due to their critical condition.

Upon being contacted, a police spokesman said that District Police Officer Khalid Hamdani has taken notice of the incident and a team has been constituted led by ASP Saddar Circle Jawad Ishaq, comprising officials of the Elite Force to trace the suspects and put them behind bars.

Moreover, a woman committed suicide in village Ikhlas in the jurisdiction of Pindigheb Police station. Police said that the victim was psychologically unwell.
