ISLAMABAD: The surge of Covid-19 cases in capital is continuing, with 304 new cases and three deaths reported on Monday.

In Rawalpindi, two patients have died and 51 people have tested positive for the disease.

Capital administration officials said 304 out of 4,065 tests came back positive, a test-positivity rate of 7.4pc. The cases were reported from 56 areas.

There were 21 cases reported from I-8, followed by 14 each from G-6, G-13 and DHA, 13 from PWD Colony, 12 each from G-9 and G-15, 11 from Sohan, 10 each from G-7, Bhara Kahu and Bahria Town, nine each from Taramri, H-13 and G-10, seven each from I-9, Ghouri Town, G-8 and G-11, six each from G-5, G-7, Chak Shahzad and F-8, five each from Rawal Town, Korang Town and F-10, four each from Soan Garden, Margalla Town, H-12, F-6 and E-9, three each from Koral, Jinnah Garden, I-11, I-10, G-14, E-11, Banigala and Bahria Enclave, two each from River Garden, I-14, H-11, F-11 and E-16, and one each from Tarnol, Sihala, National Police Foundation, Lignum Towner, Jhangi Syedan, Jagiot, I-12, Gulberg Green, G-12, F-5, F-17, E-8, and B-17.

No let-up in coronavirus cases’ surge in twin cities

Islamabad has now reported 21,861 confirmed cases of Covid-19, with 241 deaths and 19,120 recoveries.

Rawalpindi

With 51 new cases and two deaths, Rawalpindi district has reported 8,016 confirmed cases of Covid-19, with 336 deaths and 7,306 recoveries.

There are currently 310 confirmed patients in home isolation, where they are being visited by members of 10 health team committees.

According to official sources, 9,549 people have been positive for Covid-19 in the Rawalpindi division since March, including 8,016 in Rawalpindi, 682 in Attock, 536 in Jhelum and 317 in Chakwal.

A total 408 patients have died - 336 in Rawalpindi, 42 in Chakwal, 21 in Attock and nine in Jhelum. Another 8,707 patients have recovered – 7,306 in Rawalpindi, 632 in Attock, 503 in Jhelum and 266 in Chakwal.

Following the National Command and Operation Centre’s directives to implement preventive measures to limit the spread of Covid-19 during the second wave of the pandemic, the provincial government has ordered necessary action against those violating standard operating procedure (SOP).

This includes implementing the Rs100 fine and provision of three masks for anyone who is not wearing one, a ban on indoor weddings and a limit of 1,000 guests at outdoor weddings from Nov 20.

The district administration has constituted committees to check SOP violations.
