MUZAFFARABAD: As many as 11 tourists from Lahore, including infants and toddlers, were injured after their vehicle fell down the road in Neelum valley due to some technical fault on Sunday evening, an official said.

The tourists were returning to Muzaffarabad when their highroof wagon failed to negotiate a bend and instead went into a straight direction and fell into a nullah near Sadog village at about 6:45pm, said Raja Mahmood Shahid, the deputy commissioner of Neelum.

Apparently, the cause of the accident was failure of brakes and as a result all 11 people on board were injured, he added.

Mr Shahid said the injured were identified as Abdul Jawad, his spouse and two daughters, aged 18 months and two-and-a-half years, Mohammad Mubasher, his spouse and 15 month-old son, Mohammad Umar (who was behind the wheels), his spouse and 21-month-old-son and Mohammad Junaid, all residents of Gulberg-III Lahore.

The injured, who were rescued by the local residents and police personnel and evacuated to a nearby military run health facility for treatment, were being shifted to Muzaffarabad.

The DC said two of them had sustained fractures, but all the injured were out of danger.
