HYDERABAD: A vaccinator of health department and a resident of Mirpurkhas declared coronavirus patient died at the Liaquat University Hospital (LUH) and the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), respectively, here on Tuesday, taking the total number of deaths relating to the virus in Hyderabad to 25.

Prof Shoaib Ansari of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), who is now heading LUH’s isolation ward for Covid-19 patients, told Dawn that the vaccinator, a diabetic and on the verge of his retirement, suffered a heart stroke. He was not on ventilator, the doctor clarified.

Giving details, Prof Ansari said that after his test turned out to be positive for Covid-19, the patient had to be shifted from the medical ward to the high dependency unit (HDU) of the hospital.

LUH focal person for the HDU, Dr Aftab Hussain Phull said that the deceased was a resident of Liaquat Colony. He was administered plasma as well in order to save his life but he could not survive, he added.

Meanwhile, a resident of Mirpurkhas, who was also a Covid-19 patient and brought to the Combined Military Hospital for treatment, died there on Tuesday.
