Affleck supports the next Batman Robert Pattinson

Former Batman, Ben Affleck, is sharing his support for his successor in the role, Robert Pattinson, who will play the Caped Crusader in next year’s The Batman.

Starting with 2016’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Affleck was the fifth actor to play Batman in a live-action film. Later, when Affleck departed the project, Matt Reeves signed on to write and direct, with Pattinson filling the role of Bruce Wayne.

Recently Reeves unveiled the first official look of Pattinson in costume. Aside from Pattinson, the movie will star Zoë Kravitz, Colin Farrell, Jeffrey Wright, Paul Dano, Andy Serkis, Peter Sarsgaard, and John Turturro.

While promoting his another movie at an event, Affleck said, “I think Robert’s a great actor, he’s going to do great.” Surely, fans have crossed their fingers and can’t wait to see the Twilight star Pattinson as Batman!

Disney products line for Mulan and Onward

In a double whammy for the studio, Disney has revealed the consumer products portfolio for two of its upcoming blockbuster movies, Mulan and its new animated feature film, Onward.

The Mulan programme kicks off with fashion dolls from Hasbro, Pop! Vinyl figures from Funko, and Disney Store exclusives including an enamel pin set and a Mulan dress up set. Other products include licensed charms, mugs, travel mugs, and dishes covered. There will be storybooks and plenty more in the line-up to be discovered.

Meanwhile, Mattel has the Onward license on lock down with an expansive line-up that includes role-play items such as the Onward wizard staff, as well as blind bag collectables, a core figure assortment, a mini vehicle assortment, feature plush, and a line-up of soft toys of each of the film’s main characters.

New Star Wars movie in development

Lucasfilm is developing a new Star Wars feature film with writer-director J.D. Dillard and writer Matt Owens.

The project is still in its very early stages and all further details — characters, location, time period within the Star Wars creative galaxy, story, even whether it would be released theatrically or on streaming service Disney+ — are unclear at present.

Representatives for Disney/Lucasfilm did not immediately respond to request for comment.

Disney’s theatrical release calendar also has three untitled Star Wars films listed for December of 2022, 2024, and 2026, but it’s currently unknown what films, if any, will ultimately fill those slots. Disney CEO Bob Iger has also said Lucasfilm will take a “hiatus” from theatrical Star Wars releases.
