Jennifer Lopez supports daughter’s dream
With Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony as parents, it’s no surprise that the pair’s daughter Emme fancies her chances at becoming a superstar singer.
Back in June, J. Lo and Emme performed a duet of “Limitless” during the singer’s “It’s My Party” tour in Los Angeles. J. Lo admits she’s totally supportive of Emme’s dream to follow in the footsteps of her famous parents.
“I want her to know she’s limitless,” she explained.
Emme’s dad Marc has also publicly stated he is completely behind her singing ambitions as long she wants to launch a music career “because she likes it” and not because she wants to be famous.
“Music was a big part of my life growing up and I hope it does the same for [Emme] as it has done for me,” explained her father, Marc Anthony.
Unesco honours Kyrgyzstan’s ak-kalpak
Kyrgyzstan’s distinctive headgear traditionally worn by its men, the ak-kalpak, won UNESCO intangible heritage status.
Inclusion on the prestigious global list “has some very positive aspects for us — including for tourism, to attract tourism to our country,” said deputy culture and tourism minister, Maksat Uulu Damir. “This gives the international community a chance to get to know our mountainous country.”
Unesco annually announces a list of cultural artefacts that encapsulate the spirit and heritage of their countries. The embroidered high hat is already so revered in its Central Asian homeland that it has its own national day.
Usually made from felt, the four-panelled hat symbolises “the peaks of the magnificent Kyrgyz mountains, forever snow-capped.” A parliamentary committee has approved a bill raising the status of the ak-kalpak, putting it on a par with the national anthem and flag.
Cat school for Cats cast
Taylor Swift and her Cats co-stars Jennifer Hudson, Rebel Wilson and Francesca Hayward told that they attended cat school to prepare for the movie, Cats.
“Cat school is something that you could do as much of or as little of as you wanted. I was in cat school a lot,” Swift told.
“You’re crawling around on the floor, you’re learning about their anatomy, their impulses, their instincts, how they sense things,” the singer continued.
Idris Elba, Judi Dench, James Corden, Jason Derulo and Ian McKellen also star in the film. Hayward, a Royal Ballet principal dancer, is making her feature film debut in the lead role as Victoria.
Cats, from director Tom Hooper, is an adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Broadway musical of the same name, which is based on author T.S. Eliot’s book Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats.
