HYDERABAD: The investigation into the Sept 15 riots in Ghotki incident has been completed by Dadu SSP, it is learnt.

The case was transferred to the Hyderabad DIG to ensure safety of blasphemy suspect, who had been given into judicial custody a few days after the incident. Subsequently, the investigation was entrusted to the Dadu SSP on Sept 24.

The SSP is said to have gathered “ample evidence for submission of the final charge-sheet” against the suspect in court.

The statements of 15 witnesses revealed that cognisance offence had been made out by the complainant of the FIR No 213/19 lodged under Section 295-C (blasphemy) against the suspect. In his statement, the suspect is said to have deposed that if any objectionable word was uttered by him, it was unintentional.Riots had broken out in the Ghotki area following the blasphemy incident and places of worship were attacked by mobs.
