Paramount Animation introduces its mascot

Pixar’s got a jumping lamp, Illumination’s got Minions, Dreamworks has a moon boy who fishes, and now Paramount Animation has unveiled its very own mascot: Star Skipper, a tween girl who skips a stone across a lake.

The stone then turns into a flying star and glides through a forest before joining up with the other stars that form the classic Paramount logo.

Paramount Animation’s president Mireille Soria disclosed: “One of the goals from the very beginning was ‘Let’s do a logo.’ We’ve landed on one, and I’m excited for the world to see it. You’ll recognise it as a Paramount logo, and it has its own voice, and it’s unique to the world of animation.”

Latest Star Wars toy line-up

An extensive raft of new Star Wars line-up in the run up to the Star Wars triple Force event, was revealed via a global livestream event on YouTube. It was hosted by Warwick Davis, and starring a wealth of Star Wars talent, including Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Billy Dee Williams.

The event kicked off a weeklong countdown, and new products inspired by not only this year’s theatrical release Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but also the live action series, The Mandalorian, and the video game title Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will begin hitting shelves worldwide.

There is also a new collection inspired by this year’s Star Wars releases, including the Ultimate D-O Interactive Droid, a Scream Saber Electronic Lightsaber, and a series of premium Black Series Carbonised Collection figures.

New Spider-Man movie deal

Sony Pictures and Disney’s Marvel Studios parted ways in August in unknown circumstances. Fortunately, they have now come to terms on a new Spider-Man movie deal.

Marvel Studios and its president, Kevin Feige, will produce the third film in Sony’s latest Spider-Man trilogy starring Tom Holland in the title role.

The third film is set to be released in theatres on July 16, 2021. The trilogy started with 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming and continued with Spider-Man: Far From Home which hit theatres in July. Spider-Man will also be allowed to appear in one future Marvel Studios film.

“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it,” Feige said in a statement.

Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man on film.
