KHAIRPUR: Sindh police recovered a woman, who had gone missing some time ago from Bhitai Colony in Khairpur, and handed her over to her family on Tuesday.

Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Sukkur Dr Jameel Ahmed, Khairpur SSP Umar Tufail and City ASP Dr Mohammad Imran produced the woman before local media personnel at the SSP’s office in the presence of the woman’s family members and some leaders of the local Hindu community.

The AIG told the media that after receiving the missing complaint, a police team was constituted to locate the woman. During the course of the investigation, nine suspects were picked up and interrogated while technical data from National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) and passport offices was obtained.

He said the investigation led the police team to establish that the woman along with a resident of Khairpur, Hasnain Pathan, was present in Lahore.

The police team proceeded to the specified place and with the help of the Lahore police took the man and woman in custody. They were brought to Khairpur and the woman was produced in court, where she recorded here statement and wished to be handed over to her parents, he added.

The AIG said that Hasnain Pathan was then arrested and was currently being interrogated. If need be, his physical remand would also be obtained from court, he said.
