A birthday treat

This is with reference to the article “A birthday treat” by Affan Ashraf (YW, January 12). It was a humorous article. The article also taught me that birthday treats are not just about going to great places. Birthdays are in fact a good way to sit together, share our happiness and have fun with our friends and family at any place that is within one’s budget. These events give us unforgettable memories. So treats must be measured by heart, not by money.

Identify your intelligence

This is with reference to the article “Identify your intelligence” by Arishba Khan by (YW, December 8, 2018). It was an amazing article and the ideas were well expressed by real life examples.

Everybody is unique and has unique qualities, but some of us are unable to figure out our own qualities, so it is better to take some time out to focus on one’s self and discover the hidden qualities and skills that are gifted to us.

The article “Identify your intelligence” by Arishba Khan beautifully explained how intelligence is not about getting the highest marks in any quiz, as we all have our own unique way of perceiving things and solving problems.

Everyone has different roles to play, some people are good at dancing some have good skills in art and craft, some tend to be better in languages, etc. and of course there are those who have extraordinary physical abilities which make them stand out among the rest. Therefore, judging a person’s intelligence by his/her academic results is absolutely wrong.

Tackling bullies

Being a parent, I read Young World with interest, for its enjoyable jokes and interesting quotes. This is regarding the cover story “Tackling bullies” by Yasmin Elahi (YW, January 26). I read the article and found it very useful, also for parents, with practical suggestions.

I do not somewhat agree with the advice, “Not to bully back”, as I found it worked very well on one occasion for my son, after joining a new school.

All the same, the problem is too common and it’s a day-to-day issue for children/parents. I strongly recommend that more should be written on it and readers’ experiences shared, both for your young readers/children and their parents.

My neighbourhood

This is regarding the article, “Reflections: My neighbourhood.” by Ali Aaliyan Rizvi (YW, January 19).

I really liked the way the writer described his neighbourhood. It felt like we are looking at the scene in real-time. I would request the YW team to publish more articles like this one.

The article “My neighbourhood” by Ali Aaliyan Rizvi was a remarkable read as it told us about the joys of living in a friendly neighbourhood. The way the writer described his neighbourhood was amazing.

Those who live in a good neighbourhood are truly blessed. It is rightly said, “Don’t buy the house, buy the neighbourhood,” because neighbours are the ones who are always present in our happiness and they are there to support us in our bad times.

Having a good neighbour makes your everyday bright and your life easy.

The lost joys of reading

This is regarding the cover story “The lost joys of reading” by Yasmin Elahi (YW, January 5). The writer beautifully elaborated the importance of reading, especially for the younger generation who give more time to social media, the time which could otherwise be devoted to reading.

It is not wrong to say we hardly open books other than academics for reading.

So I would like to suggest to all the readers to please never avoid reading because it enhances our knowledge and polishes our writing skills as well.
