In a visit to KCIP on Saturday, he assured industrialists that their issues would be addressed soon.

Stressing that he would like to see KCIP become a success story, he said the government is committed to improving ease of doing business indicators. He pointed out various initiatives taken in this regard. Mr Dawood also stressed on increasing export and substituting import with local products.

The adviser assured industrialists that he would do a follow up meeting next month to review the progress on various issues of KCIP.

On the removal of Regulatory Duty (RD) on auto sector’s imported raw materials, Mr Dawood said he would discuss the matter with the local steel industry and then finalise the issue in the next two to three months.

Chairman KCIP Standing Committee Shahid Ghoury made a presentation on various issues being faced by industrialists. He highlighted that electricity was a major issue hampering growth of the industry in the industrial park. Other issues related to sub lease, effluent treatment plant and high Cantonment Board charges were also discouraging industrialists, he added.

Executive member of KCIP Mashood Khan said if National Industrial Park (NIP) completes these assignments on time then the special economic zone would attract more joint ventures and technical agreements among local and foreign investors. On the occasion, CEO NIP Rizwan Bhatti updated the meeting of the situation and presented solutions to various issues.
