SWABI: An old-enmity claimed lives of two members of a family in a remote village of Topi tehsil on Wednesday, police said.

The incident occurred in Batakara village.

Malik Khan, his son Zeeshan Khan, and his son-in-law Wahid Khan, were busy in construction of a house when they were allegedly targeted by their rivals.

Murad Ali, Aurangzeb and Shahzad, the three assailants, opened fire on them, killing Zeeshan and Wahid on the spot. The attackers managed to escape.

Police officials said Aurangzeb, one of the accused, had been arrested.

The police registered an FIR and started further investigations.

ARREST OF PTI WORKER’S KILLER SOUGHT: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leaders have demanded arrest of the killers of Shahzeb, an engineer, who was killed on the election day when Awami National Party and PTI workers clashed.

The PTI leaders led by Usman Khan Tarakai visited the grave of the deceased and addressed the workers on the occasion on Wednesday.

Usman Tarakai said it was their firm resolve that those who were involved in the killing of Shahzeb would be punished.

The FIR of the case was registered against ANP district president Ameer Rehman and his bodyguard, but Mr Rehman has fled abroad.

Mr Tarakai assured Shahzeb’s father that he was not alone and the entire leadership of the party stood by him in this hour of need.

PML-N LEADERS GRIEVED: Iftikhar Ahmad Khan, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa vice president, and former district naib nazim Liaqat Ahmad Khan have expressed grief over the death of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, the wife of jailed Nawaz Sharif, and expressed condolences with the bereaved family.

The former first lady passed away in a UK hospital on Tuesday after a protracted battle with throat cancer.

They told mediapersons that it was Kulsoom Nawaz who stood like a rock against military ruler Gen retired Pervez Musharraf in a difficult time, organising the party workers and encouraging them.

The death of Kulsoom is an irreparable loss for PML-N, they noted.
