A lesson learnt the hard way

This is regarding the story “A lesson learnt the hard way” by Hana Marfani (YW, May 19). The story was very inspiring and gave a very important lesson that curiosity can sometimes lead to trouble.

Everybody makes mistakes out of curiosity, which sometimes lead to terrible results, just like in the story. I learnt from the story that we should be more careful in doing anything for the first time.

Live in the present

This is with reference to the article “Live in the present” by Iqra Nawaz (YW, May 5). We do not concentrate on the present but always think about past mistakes and reach negative conclusions.

One should always focus on the present, bring about positive changes and stop thinking about the past, which is gone, or the future which is yet to come and which solely depends on our present actions.

The article “Live in the present” by Iqra Nawaz clearly explained that to make your dreams come true, you should focus on your present.

Utilise your present in a way that it becomes history. Never think about your past. Whatever has been done cannot be undone. Don’t stress yourself worrying about the future. Just focus on your present, which is in your control and make it shine for a brilliant future.

Does society control our actions?

This is with reference to the article “Does society control our actions”, by Ayesha Sohail (YW, May 12). I agree with the author’s views.

We know that we are not going in the right direction, but we keep on going since it is the direction the rest of the people are going in. Be it career planning or any other matter, we must not force ourselves to fit in with society, which is unfit for us in every way. We should take steps, which suit us and are good for us.

The article “Does society control our actions?” by Ayesha Sohail depicted the situation faced by the young generation today, where everyone fears the reaction of society.

Majority of people think about society before starting a new job or taking a decision and this is why they end up taking wrong decisions.

However, we should remember that we’re the ones who make up this society. So stop thinking of other’s decisions and live by your own, whether others like it or not.
