HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad district administration has asked the relevant authorities and departments to identify the areas in which an operation was needed to be launched to remove huge billboards and signboards in line with the apex court’s directives.

Presiding over a meeting in his office on Wednesday, Hyderabad Deputy Commissioner Anis Ahmed Dasti referred to a letter from the commissioner addressed to the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Qasimabad Municipal Committee, Cantonment Board Hyderabad and the departments concerned stating that such billboards installed at various locations along main arteries of the city could prove disastrous during monsoon rains or in case of strong winds.

The DC said all recipients of the letter should submit their plans regarding removal of the billboards and signboards within their respective jurisdictions.

He said that the provincial highways department should arrange for the heavy machinery while police force would provide escort to the staff and labourers to be engaged for the proposed drive.
