4,500-foot ice cream sundae

Attendees at the Spirit of Texas Festival in Wolf Pen Creek marvelled at the 4,549-foot and 3.36-inch long ice cream sundae, which broke the Guinness World Record for the longest ice-cream dessert.

The sundae was made using 500 gallons of H-E-B Texan Tackle Crackle ice-cream and topped with 300 gallons of chocolate and strawberry syrup, 2,000 cans of whipped cream, 25 pounds of sprinkles, and 20,000 cherries.

A Guinness World Records adjudicator inspected the dessert to ensure all of the ingredients were connected in a single line.

Once the record was confirmed, more than 4,000 festival attendees consumed the record-breaking sundae in 30 minutes.

Dog with human face

Yogi is a fluffy Shih-poo. He turned one last month. But there is something unusual about this dog which set fire to the internet in recent days after a photograph of him and his pal Daria, an eight-year-old Shih Tzu, was posted on Reddit.

Yogi has a human-like face and people thought the photo had been doctored on some photo-editor software. However, Chantal, the owner of the dog from Massachusetts said: “It [photo] is not doctored at all. Those are my dogs. I put the photo up in December.

“It really isn’t [edited]. I’m not a photographer at all. I think it’s just his eyes and the way he’s looking at the camera.”

Chantal said she got Yogi back in April, and he’s just like any other puppy. She said she didn’t see his ‘human face’ before. While Chantal still sees her Shih-poo in the same way, others can’t help but notice his ‘man face’. Some have labelled it ‘disturbing’.

Dunkin’ Donuts-inspired running shoes

Dunkin’ Donuts has entered into an unusual partnership with an active wear retailer for an unlikely crossover product — running shoes.

The Saucony x Dunkin’ Kinarvara 9 shoes come in a box modelled after a Dunkin’ Donuts box and feature the colours of the eatery’s logo and a sprinkle-inspired design.

Saucony and Dunkin’, both based in Massachusetts, said the shoes are a tribute to the Boston Marathon and celebrate “the symbiotic relationship between running, coffee and donuts.”

The shoes put a literal spin on Dunkin’s slogan, “America runs on Dunkin’.”

The companies said only 2,000 pairs of the shoes are being made and they are currently available for preorder.

Paper plane folding machine

A crafty Swiss student posted a video showing off his latest invention — a machine that creates paper airplanes.

Fabian, the student who goes by the name DomiNope on YouTube, posted a video showing off “The Paperplane Machine,” an invention he created for a school project.

The video shows paper sliding along an assembly line and being folded by the mechanism. Fabian said he wanted to show off the machine, although it still needs some work.

“The machine does not actually work as well as portrayed in this video,” he wrote.

“I used strings to pull the paper as the wheels are not capable of moving the paper across. I used jump-cuts in between the folding bits to shorten the waiting time. Also, the first pair of servomotors were moved by hand, unlike the second one.

“I hope to get this machine to run smoothly one day. If this will be the case, I will upload a second, unedited video.”
