MANSEHRA: Scores of prisoners involved in petty crimes were released on Friday to enable them to celebrate Eidul Fitr with their families.

Mansehra District and Sessions Judge Muzamal Shah Khattak ordered release of 45 inmates from district jail in order.

The judge visited the jail and met the women and juvenile prisoners and presented them with Eid gifts and clothes.

Mr Khattak also heard problems of inmates and assured them that their cases would be disposed of as early as possible.

Talking to mediapersons, Mr Khattak said 45 inmates involved in petty cases had been released.

In Buner, district and sessions judge Rauf Khan and civil judge Esa Khan Afridi visited the district jail and set free 22 inmates involved in minor crimes.

Abdul Baree, superintendent jail, said the two judges along with deputy commissioner Zafrul Mani visited the district prison and ordered release 15 inmates belonging to Swat and seven others from Buner on the auspicious occasion of Eidul Fitr. The visiting judges also distributed Eid gifts among juvenile and women inmates.

The judges visited kitchen, washes rooms, barracks, and compound of juvenile and women inmates, and expressed satisfaction over the arrangements.

In Ghalanai, local administration released 11 prisoners, mostly detained for petty crimes, to facilitate them to celebrate Eid with their families.

The prisoners were released on the directives of political agent Mahmood Aslam Wazir.

Assistant political agent Ekkaghund Naveed Akbar Khan visited Ekkaghund lockup and released 11 inmates.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up across Mohmand Agency with deployment of extra FC, Levies and Khassadar personnel at sensitive sites and checkposts to avert any threat on Eidul Fitr, official sources told Dawn.

In Lakki Marwat, several inmates of the district jail involved in petty cases were set free on Friday.

District and Sessions Judge Ms Zarqaish Sani visited the jail and inspected the facilities provided to the prisoners. The visit was arranged on the directives of Peshawar High Court chief justice.

The judge listened to problems of prisoners and issued on spot orders for their resolution.

She heard the cases of petty nature cases in a camp court set up inside the jail and ordered release of several prisoners.
