LAKKI MARWAT: The wildlife department seized more than 100 birds during raids on hunting places in Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts on Wednesday.

Sources said that wildlife authorities formed a special raiding party after receiving information that hunters were busy in hunting birds at several places. They said that hunters used to catch starlings and other precious birds through nets during August and September in both the districts for selling at high prices in the local market.

The wildlife team raided several places where the hunters had erected nets to catch starlings and other birds.

The team seized more than 100 birds, nets and other hunting equipment from the hunters and registered cases against them under relevant section of Wildlife and Biodiversity Act, 2015.

ARRESTS: Police claimed to have arrested a proclaimed offender wanted in murder cases during a raid in Masha Mansoor village on Wednesday.

An official said that a special raiding party was formed when police received information about presence of Imtiaz Ali in the village. He said that police raided his hideout in the village and arrested him.

Also in the day, another police party of Shaheed Asmatullah Khan Khattak police station arrested a proclaimed offender identified as Noor Wali during a raid in Gandi Khankhel locality.

“The outlaw was wanted by Punjab police in cases of murder and attempted murder,” said an official. He added that a pistol and a large number of bullets were also recovered from the arrested person.

The official said that the same police party also arrested Noor Kamal, who was wanted by police in cases of drug trafficking, in Nali Chak village near Naurang town.

He said that police conducted search and strike operation in Tajazai, Khanzadkhel and Ghaznikhel localities after receiving information about presence of outlaws there.
