Tharparkar SSP Sarfaraz Nawaz Shaikh told the media that a joint operation by police and Rangers personnel was carried out to recover the woman and arrest her alleged kidnapper Abdul Munaf Nohrio.

SSP Shaikh said that an FIR was registered against Mr Nohrio at Police Station A Section of the Mandrah area of Rawalpindi. He added that both the recovered woman and the suspect were handed over to a police team from Rawalpindi.

According to the SSP, Ms Katrina, speaking broken English and Urdu said that she was kidnapped in Rawalpindi and was then taken to Tharparkar by the suspect. The SSP told Dawn that he was himself investigating the matter to find more information.

Mr Shaikh said that according to Ms Katrina, she was not lured on the social media or otherwise but was abducted, adding that he could not rule out the possibility of other people from Rawalpindi being involved in the abduction.
