LARKANA: One villager is reported to have died from heatstroke as temperature shot up to 52 degrees Celsius in Larkana and its surrounding areas on Wednesday, according to local met office.

The mercury touched 51 degrees on Tuesday which continued to soar and reached 52 degrees Celsius.

The temperature had touched the 52 after 2010.

The met office said that humidity in the morning was 35 per cent, which dropped to only 5 per cent in the evening. The heat-wave would continue till Friday and weather was expected to improve on Saturday-Sunday after wind changed direction from South-West to North-East and South-East, causing the humidity to rise from 50 per cent to 80 per cent, said the met office.

Roads in the city wore a deserted look, while one Ghulam Hussain Channa, 55, died of heatstroke in Channa-Mochi village near Moenjodaro.

The frequent disruption in power and load-shedding caused great inconvenience for school-going children as power supply remained suspended or disturbed to most of the schools.

The price of ice rose and the electronics market reported a rise in the sale of room coolers, air conditioners and solar panels.

Badin: Sixty-year-old Fakeer Mohammad Ibrahim Rajar died in Barach village near Nagarparkar town on Monday as mercury shot up to 47 to 49 degrees Celsius in the drought-hit Thar.

The extreme heat forced people to remain indoors in Thar and Badin district.
