Political party's target killers arrested: Karachi police

KARACHI: Police on Sunday arrested four 'target killers' who they claimed were affiliated with a political party, and reportedly involved in the killing of political rivals.
The suspects were arrested from the Preedy area after a brief encounter with police personnel.
Several weapons and ammunition were recovered from the arrested suspects.
Police asserted that the arrested suspects were involved in target killing, snatching the hides of sacrificial animals and extortion.
In a separate incident, a police van was attacked with a rocket launcher in Sohrab Goth today. Security forces retaliated and killed three suspects who were allegedly linked to a banned organisation.
The crackdown against criminals has stepped up in Karachi with the focus shifting to those suspects who have taken shelter within political parties or are part of their militant wings.
Rangers arrest 22 suspects
Separately, Rangers personnel conducted raids in several areas of the provincial capital and arrested at least 22 suspects including alleged target killers, extortionists, those involved in Lyari's gang war, and banned militant organisations.
A Rangers spokesperson said that targeted operations were carried out in Agra Taj Colony, Soldier Bazaar, Bihar Colony, Malwari Parah, Liaqatabad Northern Bypass, Pirabad and Shah Faisal areas.
The spokesman added that weapons, ammunition and jihadi literature had also been recovered from the arrested suspects.
Today's developments comes amid accelerated efforts to clear the city of criminal elements, following the approval of the National Action Plan against terrorism. Targeted operations have been taking place in the metropolis since a joint grand targeted operation was launched with great fanfare in September 2013 in the hopes of improving the law and order situation.

Those arrested should be brought before court and sentenced. It is not enough to just arrest them. When will we learn that giving sentence before a court of law will give a warning to others that they will meet the same fate. We hear quiet often a terrorist is arrest or a killer is arrested and then everything goes quiet. This method of dealing with criminals should change i.e. not just arrest them but bring before the courts. Is anyone in the Government listening?

National Action Plan against criminals has to succeed, as there is no other choice. Criminals and their patrons have brought economy to a stand still, there is no progress and people are desperate for peace and safety. This compaign against criminals must go at a faster rate, irrespective to any powerful figures, their status or any other connections. Police departments must have mass transfers of inspectors, and those found lacking required performance levels must be purged from police force. 'To serve & protect' motto must return to police force, and tangible results must be produced. Lets hope for the best..

Criminals and terrorist have no place in Pakistan but economic and financial terrorist must also be taken care of.
The defence forces must make arrangements to provide justice,equality,merit,zero tolerance to corruption, job opportunities, progress, better living standard,Local Governments and community police to the nation so that the terrorist and criminals of all types do not appear
again in Pakistan as things have not changed despite previous interventions.

Its a well known fact that almost every politcal party in karachi has a militant wing involved in collecting extortion, kidnapping for ransom and street crimes .... be it PPP, ANP, MQM or some religous parties .... The big question is, Can we ban or punish the above mentioned parties because of the actions of criminals within them ..... I don't hink so ... but we must punish those individuals found guilty of being involved in any criminal act .... The Z's and SS's and AH's to name a few

how about economic terrorists in the established govt who are getting wealthy every time they come in power? How about local govt. establishment just so others don't come and take the place who are being caught now? How about rule of law for average citizens of Karachi and Pakistan when quota system people come and rape the country? All those who are cheering this temporary actions, please realize that if this is a start for betterment, then underling problems MUST be addressed. Else outcome may be what you don't expect? Karachi was once a peaceful city. I saw it all transforming into something else over a period of just a few years. In the early 80's girls in our area used to walk at night without any fears. A few years later, gangsters took over. It is very misleading to only attribute it all to MQM, which in fact is only a symptom of a much deep-rooted evil. We are still scratching the surface but at least we have now started to move forward. Good luck!!

then there is the number of federal Government.
The of metropolis are happy to have seen action against all those involved in destabilising the situation of Karachi. The people of Karachi are feeling safe and no fear now. In past, they were living in a state of fear. But paramilitary forces have are winning the trust of people.

There have seen so many cases of Police corruption recorded and revealed on video that it appears if Police was eliminated crime may actually go down. Everything they say and do is suspect. Recently they kidnapped a JPMC doctor when they couldn't a post mortem report that was satisfactory to them.
Press releases from most organs of government are intended more to conceal than to reveal. Take for example the report above. No names of the individuals killed, no name of the political party affiliation, actual circumstances leading to the encounter, no pictures of the deceased whether they were shot in the front or the back, how many bullets in all were fired by the Police and the alleged target killers. Who will conduct the post mortem and when or if the report will be made public. There is strong likelihood this comment won't be published.

100% of Karachi knows where the patronage for criminals comes from, but they are scared, as they can also be silenced for good.
You should also take a close look at PPP and their alliances...How Karachi land is gradually ending up in their hands; sprawling commercial structures / projects are coming up on lands which used to be part of Sindh Govt
Federal Govt is silently watching corruption in Sindh as they're interested in ruling their own province and this gives sense of deprivation to people of Sindh and other smaller provinces.
LEA ! You're our only Hope...
