KARACHI: President Mamnoon Hussain assured a delegation of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Friday that work on mega projects in Karachi would be expedited for their early completion.

A three-member MQM delegation headed by Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and comprising Dr Farooq Sattar and Senator Nasreen Jalil called on the president at the State Guest House and discussed issues relating to the development and progress of Sindh with him.

Official and MQM sources said that the delegation expressed concern over a slow pace of several development projects in Karachi and Hyderabad and urged the president to play his role.

The president told them that development in Karachi and Hyderabad was his top priority.

He assured them that the work on the Lyari Expressway, K-IV or the greater Karachi water supply project, and others would be expedited.

Besides the issue of development projects, other matters pertaining to the overall political situation in the country were also discussed.
