PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s disgruntled Member of National Assembly, Gulzar Khan, who has yet not tendered his resignation, said on Friday that party chief Imran Khan was unjustified in expel him from the party as he had not violated the party discipline.

He was responding to the announcement made by Imran Khan while addressing the sit-in in Islamabad the other day that he would expel those MNAs who failed to submit resignations.

When contacted by Dawn, Gulzar Khan said: “It amounts to totalitarianism to expel someone from the party who has not violated the party discipline.” He added that it was strange that the democratic process was not followed in that regard.

If the PTI has taken a decision in principle to resign from the assemblies then why the party has not been implemented the same when it comes to resigning from the provincial assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he asked.

The annoyed PTI lawmaker said that in democratic parties there was proper procedure which was followed to proceed against someone who violated the party discipline. Gulzar Khan said that neither any show cause notice was served on him nor the central executive committee had taken a decision in that regard. Mr Khan said that he had neither violated the party discipline nor the article 63A of the constitution dealing with the defection of a member.

Gulzar Khan claimed that three other disgruntled PTI MNAs were also in contact with him.
