Small dams approved for Karak

KARAK: District development advisory committee (DDAC) chairman MPA Gul Sahib Khan Khattak on Thursday announced construction of five small dams in Lakani area of Karak tehsil and said that drinking water problem would be resolved with the construction of these dams.

He was addressing a public gathering here at Lakani area. He said that agriculture activities would also start with the construction of dams, which would benefit the people of the area.

The DDAC chairman also approved construction of two kilometres blacktop road for the area and said that the road would link the area with the district headquarters. He said that the road would also be beneficial for exploration of mineral resources, particularly salt in the area.

He claimed that the backward area of Lakani would be brought at par with the developed areas of the district by providing all basic needs to the people.

Mr Khattak also approved provision of drinking water to the households by installing solar system for the water supply scheme. He approved construction of boundary walls for the two boys’ primary schools of the area and added that additional classrooms would also be built in the schools.

On this occasion, labour leader Taj Mohammad Khattak appreciated Sahib Khan for taking interest in the development of his constituency. Members of several families also joined Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf at the function.

SUSPENDED: District police officer, Karak, Atiqullah Wazir has suspended seven police personnel, including SHO, for showing poor performance and ordered departmental inquiry against them.

In a press release issued here on Thursday, the DPO showed resentment over the poor handling of the murder case of bakery owner Sher Mohammad by the personnel of Banda Daud Shah police. He also ordered suspension of SHO Ghani Khan and six other personnel. — Correspondent
