KURRAM: Death toll from the continuing clashes between the two tribes of Kurram tribal district over a land dispute climbed to 11 and injuries to over 60 during the last three days.

The two sides used missiles and other heavy weapons to target each other’s positions. Rockets and missiles were also fired at the Parachinar and Sadda towns.

A tribal jirga from Hangu and Orakzai districts has failed to effect ceasefire between the two tribes during the past two days.

According to the police and the district administration, the clashes between the tribes of Boshehra and Maleekhel over a land dispute continued for the last three days.

They said that at least 11 people from both the sides were killed and over 60 injured during the clashes.

Officials said that firing also continued in Peewar, Tari Mangal, Balishkhel and Kunj Alizai areas.

Traffic on the main roads also remained suspended due to the continuing firing.

Kurram deputy commissioner Javedullah Mahsud said that the joint jirga of Hangu and Orakzai districts continued to put in efforts to de-escalate the situation and effect a ceasefire between the two tribes. —
