KMC engineering college planned

KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation administrator has said that the KMC is going to set up an engineering college, which will be affiliated with the NED university, within the next three months.

KMC administrator Rauf Akhtar Farooqui expressed these views while inspecting the under-construction building of the college in Korangi where he was given a detailed briefing on the project.

He said it would be the first of its kind of engineering college established by any municipal body in the country.

The NED university had given approval for the affiliation and the new engineering college would prove to be a standard institution like the Karachi Medical and Dental College being run by the KMC, he added.

He said the main thing was affiliation with a standard education institution and the NED university gave a green signal for it.

In the first phase, electronics and information technology classes would be started in this college after which classes in civil and technical subjects would be held by next year and more disciplines would be added gradually.

He said this college would be a gift from the KMC for the people of Landhi, Korangi and other adjoining areas where, admissions would be given purely on merit, he said.
