I am NOT a PTI fan, but must say this is indeed a good way to get the vaccination done. Let the parents come to the clinic instead of polio workers going to their home and get killed in the process.

Good move by PTI, PML(N) can copy and paste it too and claim it as one of their own. PPP can consider coming out twitter and doing some work on the ground, intetrior Sindh is the least developed area in Pakistan.

Now this looks like a great step if it is free from corruption.

One can see from the article that how reluctantly Dawn had to acknowledge PTI government's achievements only after it got recognition in the western media. I wonder why Dawn and other local media outlets were not able to highlight these efforts when over 2 million children got vaccinated in this landmark initiative. One should have big heart to appreciate good work regardless of who does it.

@Sahi Khan: You are misleading people. The paper very clearly states that its findings are not sufficient to make a decision. The authors accept that there were many confounding factors. Interestingly Asian ethinicity was not noted to have any increased risk. The diagnosis of autism was parent reported not clinically diagnosed. They state very clearly at the end of the article that the benefits of vaccination are higher than the risks. You have selected one paper which raises an unsubstantiated probable association and ignore huge European and american studies on their own people (not on supposedly subjugated nations) which show significant benefits of vaccination. Do you have any idea how many people are saved by vaccinations. Nothing is free of risk...not even paracetamol that people chuck willy-nilly. One can try eating kilos and kiols of karylas 3 times a day to lower their blood sugar by a miniscule percentage but it is better to have a proper diabetes medication which will give you a more adequate control with acceptable risk profile. People drive cars....they are one of the riskiest ways to travel....does that mean you should recommend everyone to buy a plane beacuse records show that flying is by far the safest method of transportation. Please if you cannot guide people in a balanced way do not mislead them with your one-sided view. Be responsible if you want to profess your knowledge of medicine. Your words can make a difference either way and you have to take responsibility of your actions. That is the reason this profession is complicated warna haddiyaan tu pehlwaan bhee jor daita hai.

Indeed this is very wise step and money well spent. By spending money on immunization today, governments and society save huge sums in future for not needing to treat diseases which immunization prevented. Well done PTI
