Wasim lashes out at PCB for leaking Waqar’s report ‘within hours’

Former captain Wasim Akram threw his weight behind one-time pace partner Waqar Younis over controversy surrounding a leaked report presented to the national board by the Pakistan head coach.
Waqar fired a stinging volley at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after details of his 'confidential' report from Tuesday's meeting in Lahore were leaked to the media.
In a press conference outside the Gaddafi Stadium, a fired-up Waqar went as far saying that there “was more politics in Pakistan cricket than the parliament.”
Wasim, who once shared the new-ball with Waqar for Pakistan, was of the opinion that people at the helm of the country’s cricket lacked the passion and desire to do well.
"First of all I would put people who have passion, who want to do well for the country and who can keep a secret a secret,” said Akram on Thursday to cricket.com.au when asked what he would have done as a top cricket administrator in Pakistan.
"That's the start," the 49-year-old added.
The former left-arm quick slammed the authorities for being irresponsible and letting a private report go public in no time.
"The Pakistan coach … supposedly has given a confidential report (to the PCB) on the state of Pakistan, on the state of affairs and cricketers … (but) it was out (in the public) the next day,” said Akram.
He believed that the practices in the PCB were impacting the players who represent Pakistan on the field.
"If the top level have a mentality like this, leaking news like this, imagine what the players go through,” said the former great.
"You can't have people in cricket boards who will leak confidential reports in the matter of a day, maybe three hours,” he added.
"That shows the trust nobody has. Not everyone on the (PCB) but certain people I don't think want Pakistan cricket to do well."

Not to worry about cricket its all about power politics in PCB. No one is ready to put efforts in first class cricket because there is no glamour.

I think In the wake of the report leak Waqar should come out with a press conference to himself give full details of his secret report, give a copy to the press, if he has written the report honestly why should he spent sleepless nights. Come up with the facts, let the nation know how in Waqar's opinion cricket in Pakistan has slipped so low.

what else can be expected from Nawaz Shareef appointed staff at PCB. Cricket is in such a bad condition and still our prime minister who is also a patron in chief of PCB is not doing anything about it.

Dear Mr PM, nation believes you have too many responsibilities on your shoulder such as leading the country , managing foreign affairs, representing the country in every big and small international events and then on top of all these you have to justify being a patron of the PCB. Please Sir dont kill yourelf serving this nation . Do a favor to your self and this nation too , lessen one of your many responsibilities.Handover the PCB patronship to someone who has been a professional cricketer.

In theory yes, you are right. Waqar should come out and do exactly what you have suggested.
However, I fear that there are probably some restrictions in his contract that prevent him from doing so - or else the consequences for him for doing so might be quite high.
That said, what is required here is for the PCB to be overhauled properly, and the likes of Waqar and Intikhab Alam allowed (without any kind of fear) to tell us exactly everything they have to say.
This will only be done if the PM intervenes here - and he should as he is ultimately the 'top man' at the PCB, in his position as the Chief Patron.

Mark my words there would be no reforms .... these cricket ers who are lashing and bashing PCB nw where were they earlier, went to other nations for coaching nw they want to have top job in PCB. ... pakistan cricket needed reforms way back from 2003 exit but till nw nobody raised any voice why nw....answer is simple they want take over PCB. ..if they were so concerned about pakistani cricket team how manu of them has opened cricket academy in pakistan

Sad state of affairs . One of the common problems is not having ex cricketers at the helm of affairs of any cricket board . Why do cricket boards have to be run by politicians. Mr. Srinivasan was forced by the Indian Supreme court to relinquish the BCCI chairmanship as he was also franchise owner of IPL-Super Chennai team on grounds of conflict of interests. POLITICIANS SHOULD NOT RULE SPORTS BODIES . PERIOD.

The high ups in the PCB don't have any remorse on Pakistani cricket team debacle at international level.
They are only concerned with their positions and earnings.They don't want to put things right,they don't respect this nation''s cricket heroes.I would say they are senseless.
They are good at doing politics and personal liking and disliking.
The effect is coming from PML (N) govt-sluggish govt,full of incompetent people.
They are only good at finding faults with others.
Heaven Only knows if ever we get sincere people who could do good for the sake country.
Nothing will improve in Pakistan if people continue acting like this.

Why Waqar Younis is afraid of his report be accessible to public? Why he wants to hide facts? He is himself guilty. His coaching period is disaster for Pakistan cricket team. Why not he resign, even after so many failures.

I think chief Shaharyar Khan shall retire and let new face shall run the affairs of the PCB. They can not keep any secret of the coaches and Managers mean they donot deserve any position on the board.
Team Plans are made secret and implemented on the grounds but in Pakistani team no plan and no implementation on the ground either from last few years.
Waqar got limited say in the team, looks like too much grouping in the players.Which is shame.
Let us unite and they we will win matches otherwise ????????????.

the only funtional organization in the country is pak army, given the the control of PCB to army and in six month we will have a great team :), most will disagree from the previous line but will agree with me what of physical and discipline camp should in Military academy for lets say 6 months :)

Always the solution in PCB seems to sack some body, look for scapegoats. Even reading the comments below all say, sack Khan, sack Sheti, sack Afridi, sack Younis. I do not think the solution is sacking people, ever thought of team building and not team sacking.

The amazing thing is that the leaders of PCB are not selected based on their cricket or management skills. They are all politically picked. Our world class cricketers are ignored or used as commentators. Because they don't suck up to the politicians. Afridi has not performed but in 1 out of 10 matches. We all saw his leadership at Asia Cup. Something should have been done then. A new captain for the world cup. But they make mistakes but do not have the guts to correct them. Unfortunate, that we put so much emotion in a team which has no emotion for the masses trust and dreams.

Nothing will change. All are sitting in the same boat including the Patron. He doesn't have the balls (courage) to throw out the board lock, stock and barrel. That would be the first to start improving our cricket. Fire Afridi as captain and do not select him as a player.

Why so much racket about the report? If the report is correct then Mr Waqar the chief trainer should stand by it, no matter against whom it is. In fact he should have been courageous enough to have recorded his dissents before the team went for the games. All is good when things go ok but when it doesn't then people come out with their blame game. Waqar is equally responsible.
