BATKHELA: A man was killed and his son suffered injuries in a hand grenade explosion in Baz Darra area of Malakand Agency on Sunday.

Baz Darra Levies post moharrar Sultan told reporters that the bomb exploded in the house of Said Alam Khan, killing him on the spot. His son Hazeb was seriously injured in the blast. He was referred to Peshawar in precarious condition.

Security personnel reached the spot soon after receiving information about the blast and started investigation.

Mr Sultan said that Levies personnel recorded statement of the injured boy, who told them that he had found the grenade in the nearby mountain. The boy said that he had taken it for a toy and brought it home. He said that the grenade exploded when he removed its pin.

Deputy Commissioner Ali Abbas Khan, when contacted, said that it was an explosion of a hand grenade. He said that the injured boy was taken into custody. He said that investigators would determine as to how the hand grenade reached the house.
