LAHORE: Police are yet to establish identity of the suicide bomber whose body parts underwent first constructive surgery on Wednesday, a day after the deadly attack outside the Qila Gujjar Singh Police Lines.

Five people, including two policemen, were killed and 32 others injured in the attack.

A senior police official told Dawn that police had collected body parts of the suicide bomber, including his skull, wrists, feet, legs and hair from the blast scene and sent them to Punjab Forensic Science Agency for construction.

He said despite the doctors’ efforts to give shape to the attacker’s face by conducting a plastic surgery, his identity could not be established. He said the DNA test would be the only way to establish identity of the terrorist.

“This process may take a week or more,” a police officer said.

He said the detectives had also found remains of the suicide jacket and the ball bearings used in the blast that could lead them to the manufacturer of the explosive device.

Police identified the fifth victim of the suicide attack as Mohammad Nadeem, 24, of Chichawatni, who visited Lahore to give an interview for a job at a travel agency.

Meanwhile, the police said, of those injured in the attack, four were discharged from Mayo Hospital and five from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital after treatment. Two of the injured were still said to be in a critical condition.

According to morgue officials, all the five bodies of the blast victims had been handed over to their families.
