After Fawad, India goes gaga over Mahira

With the incredible success of Humsafar on India's Zee Zindagi, the drama's leading lady Mahira Khan has wooed her Indian fans and is now visiting Mumbai to meet them.

During media interactions in Delhi, Mahira was repeatedly asked the same questions: when she will work with heart throb Fawad again, and whether she will sign a Bollywood film.

The success of Humsafar in India, courtesy Zindagi TV, has won millions of hearts. Indian publications say the drama is a "breath of fresh air" and say it is a must watch due to the chemistry between Fawad and Mahira.

Humsafar had its finale on November 8 on Zee Zindagi and the channel has now hosted a competition on its Twitter account called #MadforMahira in which fans are asked to express their appreciation and love for the actor to get a chance to meet the stunning star in Mumbai.

The channel also tweeted that Mahira has reached Mumbai and has attended the Zindagi press conference:

The Sadqay Tumhare actor is currently in the spotlight of her Indian followers in Mumbai and has also expressed gratitude for the love and admiration she has received from her fans in India.

Sarmad Sultan Khoosat’s record breaking serial Humsafar was first aired on Hum TV in 2012. The much-loved onscreen couple of the heartthrob Fawad Khan and the stunning Mahira Khan were lauded by viewers in Pakistan, and later even in India.

Indian fans have already seen Fawad alongside Sanam Saeed in Zindagi Gulzar Hai and also in his Bollywood debut film Khoobsurat. However, Mahira made her debut in India with Humsafar and fans instantly fell in love with the talented star.

India's newest venture Zindagi TV treats viewers to the best of new-age Pakistani TV dramas on offer. It has previously aired Zindagi Gulzar Hai and Durre Shehwar (renamed Dhoop Chaon) starring Samina Peerzada.

The famous Hum TV tele-film Behud starring Nadia Jamil and Fawad Khan was also recently aired on Zindagi.

Fahad Mustafa’s Mastana Mahi and Mehwish Hayat’s Mirat-ul-Uroos (renamed Aaina Dulhan Ka), which are currently airing in India, are also getting positive reviews from the Indian audience.

The best thing I liked about Hamsafar was, besides the leading pair, the powerful dialogues. That was especially, when at the end, the hero picks up enough courage to confront his mother with the sort of dialogues which we can not believe to be in real life families. Can it be so ? On the whole, a totally enjoyable drama serial.

I hope with political stability in Pakistan, they will be happy to come here as well.

These kind of cultural exchanges go a long way in clearing misconceptions. @Safdar.. Many Indians would love to visit Pakistan, the issue is of safety, if International cricket teams are targeted despite security what about poor Bollywood folks. I am sure as the security situation improves not just Bollywood but common people like us will visit Pakistan.

Hope she does some good work in India and make her folks back home proud. But why is she so thin? Inko Dilli ki 'parathey wali Gali' le ja kar ...khana khilao. @Rita there is no one way 'we Indians' look There are all shades and types in this country. Aishwarya Rai is South Indian for eg and is fair, Karishma and Kareena are also fair but come from a different part. Dont be so simplistic as to assume all fair or dark skinned people come from one group or the other. Light or dark skin is not the deciding factor for being good looking either. So who cares what colour this ladies's skin is??

Mahira Khan's role in Hamsafar was over acted, and this drama was waaaay too depressing. Her performance in the Pakistani award winning movie " BOL" was far more evolved. Mahira should actually try for roles in Hollywood where there are quite a few new serials about Pakistan and the Mid East which would suit her well considering she lived in the USA, attending college in California.

Why is my country obsessed with fair Pakistanis? Why do we follow traditional models of what constitutes "prettiness?" White skin is not the only thing worth having. There are tons of beautiful south Indian actors, why don't we hire them, for once? Sadly, we have such an inferiority complex and we are so fixated on Pakistan's "beauty" that we don't focus on our own beauty, which exists in different forms.

Serials shown were exceptionally made and actors did pretty good job, so they are being admired, that is a good thing. If they are admired for their color, India does not have any shortage of fair skinned people as well but why Deepika or Viday Balan are doing so well.? Cheers.

Bollywood is as much popular in Pakistan as its in hindi speaking India. Its the same people, same culture and same language which is the bond. With talents like Mahira Khan, Fawad Azfal Khan and Ali Zafer Indian media Industry can’t go down-it will only rise. Such cultural exchange between feuding nations is a big jump towards establishing friendship and people from both side of the boarder must welcome this. Follow the footsteps of Kolkata and Dhaka where such exchanges started decades ago and both nations are now enjoying the fruits.

My dear everybody is doing business to earn money. If this is a blame then it first goes to the people who are airing cross border produtions then blame artists. Pakistani TV serials are better in almost every aspect than Indian ones. Although one can notice financial strain on producers of serials by finding characters wearing same clothes in different serials . It seems to me that outfit is not being provided by production houses instead actors/actress use their own outfit. Still quality of story line, sequencing , acting quality displayed by actors/actors are superb. In Indian serials, extravagant display of wealth,attire,vehicle houses are central theme and story line and acting prowess become secondary. Never ending saga of vamp/villains death and reincarnation,main story losing it's streak, are very common irritant which kills the real entertainment.

Humsafar was record breaking drama. Back in 2012 I helplessly miss every fresh episode due to classes or time clash, "can't wait till repeat" I used to watch on my phone with 2G network which usually takes 3 hours to buffer one episode. May be this is my tribute to makers of humsafar.

@Zak No Indian producer begs a paki artist. They are considered third grade here in India.Even Pakisthan's so called king khan aka Fawad got a side role to a not so popular heroine Sonam. The role which he got, not even a b-grade actor like Imran Hashmi would do because of it length and content. So he got to do it. And here goes another bad new the paki king khan could not get a second role despite being "so popular", now that he is producing a film for himself. Soon he'll be digraced and sent back with no film in hand like the rest of his fellow countrymen.

Just trying to publicise ur stars by spreading false stories of their non existing popularity in INDIA. india is an open society with huge cinema exposure. and we even invite film personalities from Afghanistan, iraq, syria and many others in the same category. Doesn't mean we go gaga over someone.This is the reason why pakistani audience gets disappointed with their stars after working in one or two bollywood movies bcoz media projects as if they are the most sought after here which is so not true.for instance, I am indian and I swear I dont know who this lady ,abt which this false article has been written, is. MAY BE she was invited to attend a press meet and thats all. Also plz note unlike pakistan , every year there are 1000s of mainstream films in different regions of india are produced and many more small budget independent films .So, if pakistani actors claim that they have been offered some script does not mean that karan johar or yrf camp has approached them.

The anti-comments against Mahira is from frustrated Pakistani males as the women in Pakistan are moving ahead and the world is taking notice. If you look at the negative reaction its always against Pakistani women that are making inroads in major fields. So to hide their jealousy some Pakistani men throw hate-bombs at them to try to destroy their advances look at the hate vitriol to wards Malala & Sharmeen Chinoy its sad that Pakistani men cannot enjoy the success of of their sisters.

@Namrah Fair enough ! why don't your dipika , sonakshi , priyanka etc refuse to have a photoshop done for thjemselves. Did u know , no magazine, TV show, Bollyoowd movie, news paper of India is working without a photoshop software. The software is used to show Indians as white as white people.

@kareena Those indian producers, and musicians of yours have been copying Pakistani scripts, plays and music since 1960s. You cast Pakistanis for two reasons. cater to wider audience and avoid law suits. Go to u tube and type ' bollywood plagiarism of pakistan' and see it for yourself,.

And what a drama, better than best of the movies. Aur jitni khubsurat, utni hi ada. I saw her TUC the lighter side of life in youtube. the first episode was with Ali Jafar, he just nailed it that why she is really a woman who any man would fall in love with. Dil mein ek kashish si rah gayi.....
