GHALANAI: Leaders of Mohmand Siyasi Itehad and political parties’ workers on Monday staged a demonstration outside the Mohmand Press Club here to protest unwarranted raids by paramilitary forces and alleged illegal detention of their family members.

The protesters blocked the main highway, chanting slogans against law enforcement agencies and demanding release of relatives. Traffic remained off the road for more than an hour due to the protest.

The protesters complained that security forces had been raiding their houses for the last three weeks and arresting their family members.

Meanwhile, students of Government Higher Secondary School, Ghalanai, staged a protest against the shortage of teaching staff in the school. The students also complained about lack of facilities like drinking water and latrine in the school.
