Prisoners to get remission

ISLAMABAD, March 21: The federal government on Wednesday directed the provinces to grant special remission in the sentences of prisoners on the occasion of the Pakistan Day to be observed on Friday. According to a notification issued here on Wednesday, the order of the remission had been made by the President General Pervez Musharraf under Article 45 of the Constitution. Under the order, a special remission of 90 days would be given to prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment except those convicted for murder, espionage, anti-state activities, sectarianism, Zina, robbery, dacoity, kidnapping/abduction, and acts of terrorism.
