SUKKUR, April 22: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal has criticized President Gen Pervez Musharraf for his statement in which he termed parliament uncivilized.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, Sindh MMA secretary-general Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro, Abdul Qayoom Halejvi and other party leaders said the president had humiliated parliament members and the people.
They said Gen Musharraf had promised to restore a true democracy after he ousted then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The graduate assembly was his own creation, the MMA leaders reminded the president.
They said Gen Musharraf was not a constitutional president and he was occupying the office without any legal authority. The MMA would accept only an elected president, they added.
They said protest against the Legal Framework Order would continue and no one could blackmail the MMA and other opposition parties in the name of saving assemblies.
TRICYCLES DISTRIBUTED: The DCO, Pir Ziaul Haq Suharwardi, distributed tricycles among five disabled persons at Darul Aman, Sukkur.
The Provincial Council for Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons had provided the tricycles.
TRANSPORT FARES: The secretary, Regional Transport Authority, Sukkur, has fixed transport fares at the rate of 37 paisa per kilometre for buses plying on the Sukkur-Khairpur route.
SHUTDOWN: The Hyderabad Electric Supply Company, Rohri, has announced that 11kv Ali Wahan and Arore feeders will remain closed on April 23 and 24 from 9am to 3pm due to repair work.
The shutdown will affect Ali Wahan, Sangi, Sangrar and Arore areas.
