ISLAMABAD The Government has assured a trial of former President Pervez Musharraf for killing veteran Baluch leader Akbar Bugti in a controversial military operation.
This was claimed by Nawab Talal Akbar Bugti, Chief of Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) and son of Nawab Akbar Bugti, while speaking at a press conference here on Sunday.
Talal Bugti said he has been assured by the Adviser on Interior Rehman Malik, that the Government was not only working on the Bugti charges but also on proceedings in many other cases. These include the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, the Lal Masjid operation, and military operations in Swat and Waziristan.
Answering a question, he said the matter could not be taken up during his meeting with President Zardari. He however said, 'The Government should work with us to nab the common culprit behind the killings of Akbar Bugti and Benazir Bhutto'.
He said he would hold another meeting with Rehman Malik to enquire about the progress on the issue.
Adviser on Interior Rehman Malik was not available for comments despite repeated attempts.
Talal Bugti said during his meeting with President Zardari on Saturday, he handed over a 16 point charter of demands, calling for the constitution of an impartial commission for probing into the killing of Akbar Bugti, and the immediate registration of an FIR.
He also demanded a DNA test for the satisfaction of the heirs of Nawab Akbar Bugti.
He demanded that military operation in Sui, Dera Bugti and Kohlu agency be immediately stopped and the role of intelligence agencies be eliminated.
Talal Bugti called for the early recovery of missing persons, shifting of Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) to Quetta, and payment of compensation to the people who have moved from Sui and Dera Bugti.
He also said that domination by outsiders of the Gwadar port will not be tolerated.
