US drone kills four militants

MIRAMSHAH, Feb 18 A US drone attacked a hideout of the Haqqani network near Miramshah in North Waziristan on Thursday and killed four militants.

Official sources said the drone fired two missiles at a vehicle parked near a house in Derga Mendai, five kilometres west of Miramshah, killing the four militants who were in the vehicle and destroying a portion of the house.

Other sources said that Nisar Wazir, the head of a little-known militant outfit, Muhajireen Wal Ansar, and two Arabs and one Mehsud militant had been killed in the attack.

The group, the sources said, worked for Al Qaeda.

The area is a stronghold of Taliban commander Jalaluddin Haqqani and his son is on the US list of most wanted men.

Agencies add It was the fourth US bombing since Sunday.

“The US drone fired two missiles; one hit a compound and another a vehicle. Four militants were killed in these attacks,” a senior security official said.
