LAHORE, Feb 4: The Pakistan Awami Tehrik of Dr Tahirul Qadri announced on Monday it would hold a series of rallies titled `Inqilab March’ in several cities to press the government to ensure free and transparent elections in the country.

“In order to enhance public awareness and to keep the quarters concerned under pressure for holding a general election in accordance with Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution and relevant sections of the Representation of People’s Act 1976, we have decided to hold Inqilab March in mega cities of the country,” Dr Qadri said at a press conference here.

He said PAT would stage the first such rally in Gujranwala on Feb 15 followed by Faisalabad, Multan, Peshawar, Sukkur and Rawalpindi on Feb 17, 22, 24, March 1 and 10, respectively.

Flanked by PAT president Dr Raheeq Abbasi and other leaders of the party, Dr Qadri said people would have to take to the streets if they wanted a real democracy and rule of law and Constitution in the country.
