KARACHI, Nov 21: A sessions court on Tuesday sentenced a man to a total 17-year imprisonment in a murder and attempted murder case.

Majid alias Kala was found guilty of killing Shahzad and wounding another man in 2009 within the remit of the Baldia Town police station.

Additional District and Sessions Judge (west) Zahida Sikandar handed down 10-year imprisonment on the murder charge under Section 302 (premeditated murder) and seven years in prison under Section 324 (attempted murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs10,000 and in case of default the convict would have to undergo an additional six-month imprisonment.

However, the court ruled that both the sentences would run concurrently.
